Thirty-five kilometers, almost all downhill, with the Noce River accompanying you from one end of the valley to the other. If you're thinking of a bike rental in Val di Sole To ride the cycle path, here's what you need to know: where to start, where to pick up your bike, and how to get around without a care in the world.

Bike rental for the Val di Sole cycle path: where to start

The Val di Sole cycle path starts in Cogolo, at approximately 1.160 meters above sea level, and descends to Mostizzolo following the Noce River. The total elevation gain is approximately 565 meters, all downhill, meaning you can tackle it even if you're not a trained cyclist, making it perfect for families, couples, and groups of mixed levels.

The initial stretch, starting from Cogolo, is probably the most beautiful: a narrow valley, Alpine scenery, and the villages of Ossana and Fucine that you pass through along the way. From Mezzana onwards, the route runs continuously along the Noce River, at a more relaxed pace until arriving in Mostizzolo.

Where to rent a bike: Cogolo or Mezzana

Promescaiol has two bike rental locations in Val di Sole, one in Cogolo and one in Mezzana. Choosing between the two depends on how you want to organize your day.

If you're starting from Cogolo, pick up your bike directly at the cycle path starting point and ride the entire route, including the most scenic stretch towards Ossana and Fucine. Cogolo is also convenient if you're arriving from Pellizzano (5 minutes) or Ossana (10 minutes).

Mezzana, on the other hand, is the main location for Promescaiol summer activities, about 5 minutes from Dimaro and 5 from Ossana. From here, you can start further along the route, perhaps if you have less time or want to combine the bike ride with other activities. In Mezzana, you'll also find archery, an 18-hole minigolf course, and an outdoor bar for a pre- or post-ride break, all grouped together in the "Promescaiol Box".

The return: train or bike bus

One thing to know before you set off: the bike path is almost entirely downhill, so returning to the starting point isn't automatic. To get back, you can use the train or the bike bus—the ticket isn't included in the rental packages, so keep that in mind when planning your day.

What to rent: city bikes and more

For the Val di Sole cycle path, a city bike is the best choice: comfortable, easy to ride, and suitable for a completely paved, flat or slightly downhill route. Promescaiol offers city bike rentals in both Cogolo and Mezzana, as well as e-bikes and MTBs for those seeking a different experience or planning some off-trail excursions.

Changing equipment is one of the practical advantages of renting with Promescaiol: if during the day you realize you prefer a different bike, you can swap it. This is especially convenient if you're in a group and everyone has different needs.
